The NoMad Brings Some More Serious Eats To The Neighborhood
Thursday September 1, 2011
The NoMad Hotel, which we have been talking about for quite some time, is scheduled to open this coming February. For us it’s an amazing thing to see such a great new establishment embrace the NoMad name, one that we have been using for quite some time. The new hotel will open at 1170 Broadway (at 28th Street), just a stones throw from our offices here at Kew.
Along with excitement around a beautiful new hotel in the heart of NoMad, we are also anticipating a fantastic restaurant to also grace its address. We have recently learned that Daniel Humm and Will Guidara, the team behind one of the city’s great restaurants Eleven Madison Park, will be putting together the restaurant at 1170 Broadway. The NoMad restaurant will be comprised of five distinct spaces: a dining room, atrium, bar, library, and semi-private fireplace area — with seating for about 130 is planned for the space. Will Guidara told The Feast that, “It’s like an urban playground, lots of areas where you can do what you want.”
Guidara and Humm also explained the distinction between Eleven Madison Park and the NoMad, “If Eleven Madison Park is Miles Davis, The NoMad is The Rolling Stones.” For those of you who have never been to Eleven Madison Park, the late jazz great is like the patron saint of the restaurant. So this means the new restaurant will definitely have, some more Rock n’ Roll edge, most likely in decor as well as the food. We can’t wait!
Much more to come on The NoMad and its adjoining restaurant in the coming months, and we’ll be sure to cover it here at Street Beat.View all Headlines
