As you can probably tell, we’ve been excited about another museum coming to NoMad! Following the closing of the mathematics themed Goundreau Museum in Long Island, the idea of bring a museum devoted to mathematics to New York City was born. A group, known as the “Working Group,” formed in 2008 with the goal of creating a mathematics museum in New York that was ambitious and surpassed the scope of the Goundreau Museum. Led by Glen Whitney, the “Working Group” realized there was no mathematics museum in the United States.
With the goal of bringing hands on math programming to New York City, the MoMath is opening in 2012 in Nomad! People around the country are getting a taste of what to expect with the very popular Math Midway exhibit touring the country. The cultural surge in NoMad has not gone unnoticed by the press. Recent features in the New York Observer and Curbed NY have been highlighting the great additions to the neighborhood. The MoMath joins the Museum of Sex in NoMad.View all Headlines
