Leo Villareal will show his new piece BUCKYBALL in the NoMad District

If you were a fan of Jamie Plensa’s Echo or Charles Long’s Pet Sounds as much as we were, you will be thrilled with what is about to come to the NoMad District. Mad. Sq. Art has commissioned a new installation from renowned artist Leo Villareal. His new piece, BUCKYBALL, is a 30-foot sculpture featuring 180 LED tubes.

This massive sculpture will feature Dan Flavin-esque tubes of light arranged in hexagon and pentagon patterns. This will result in an astounding site in Madison Square Park.

Adam D. Glick, who recently became permanent curator of the Park, is doing a fantastic job of bringing groundbreaking art to the NoMad District! The piece will show from October 25 through February 2013.
