Echo extended through September
Friday August 19, 2011
If you have not had the chance to head to Madison Square Park to see Jaume Plensa’s Echo, you are in luck. The 44 foot statue, which was set to come down this week, has been extended until September 11th. We were understandably excited when Plensa’s monument to everyday people went up in the park and are thrilled that we will be able to enjoy this piece for a bit longer. The fiberglass-reinforced plastic sculpture depicts the head and neck of a young girl near Plensa’s hometown of Barcelona and has proven very popular with visitors to the park. Resembling “a digitally manipulated three-dimensional photograph,” (NY Times) this statue is truly a site to behold and a great excuse to head over to NoMad. Grab a burger at Shake Shack and a drink at La Birreria to make an evening out of it.
