Getting an authentic Philly cheesesteak in Manhattan is about to get easier, and closer to the Kew offices! Shorty’s Authentic Philly Steaks & Sandwiches is branching out from its only location on Ninth Avenue between 41st and 42nd streets and opening a new location near NoMad!
The restaurant tweeted @shortysNYC yesterday, ”Plans finished,” and ”Construction next week,” signifying that their new location is on its way! If you walk by 66 Madison Ave. you will also see a ”coming soon” sign hangs in the window. For those of you who don’t know Shorty’s, well their claim to fame is serving the only “authentic” South Philly style sandwich in the whole of New York City.
Shorty’s stays true to its Philly roots, the restaurant says, never kowtowing to trendy demands such as using wheat bread or pita, and only uses freshly baked Italian rolls shipped from Philly on a daily basis.
So get ready Flatiron, NoMad, and Murry Hill, Shorty’s is on the way!

Since my college days in Philly, I’ve yearned for a real cheese steak sandwich here in New York. I’ve tried dozens in desparate hope and none of them are any where near THE Philly Cheesesteak. No one gets it right. Can’t wait to see if this is the real thing.
