Virgin releases new renderings of their forthcoming hotel in NoMad.

Following leaked renderings last summer, new renderings of the forthcoming Virgin Hotel in NoMad have been released. The hotel, which plans to open in 2017, will sit on Broadway between 29th and 30th Streets. With 38 floors, the hotel will contain more than 460 guest rooms, additional “concept suites,” a rooftop bar and an outdoor pool and spa.

The bottom five floors of the building will contain a total of 80,000 square feet of high-end retail space, in addition to two terraces with unobstructed views of the Empire State Building.

Virgin seeks to provide guests and shoppers with an experience that’s in line with the brand’s image: cool, authentic and innovative, without being trite or overdone.

This is not Virgin’s first foray into hospitality. Virgin Chicago is slated to open in January 2015, followed by Virgin Nashville in 2016. The company also hopes to open doors in Miami, Boston, Los Angeles, Dallas and London. Virgin Hotel is being developed by The LAM Group and VOA Architecture will act as both architect and interior designer.

Virgin Hotel’s arrival in NoMad fits the neighborhood’s growing reputation as the major new player in New York real estate.
