Features of the Park
|
Madison Square Park was officially reopened in 2001 after undergoing a major renovation to restore its original Victorian plan.
The park has a beautifully landscaped setting of lawns, trees and planting areas with graceful new benches -- great for lunch or a few quiet moments.
A uniquely designed playground opened in the eastern portion of the park in 2002.
The park contains a beautiful 19th Century fountain and some of the finest outdoor sculpture in New York, including a beautiful sculpture of Farragut by Saint-Gaudens.
And in the Summer, the park becomes home to concerts and site-specific art shows by "next wave" artists.
