NoMad New York In The News Again!
Monday December 5, 2011
NoMad just seems to be growing in popularity every week! As you know by now we are huge proponents on of the neighborhood, and are just delighted to see it get picked up in other forms of media. Just this past week the Wall Street Journal had a great piece on NoMad titled “Adding Spice in NoMad,” which had a very good overview on the neighborhood that we call home.
The piece focused a great deal on Andrew Zobler, chief executive of Sydell Group and developer of the NoMad hotspot, the Ace Hotel. Zobler explains his affinity for the neighborhood stating, “We basically take a long-term interest in the neighborhood as a whole. We’re willing with tenants to give them relatively low, fixed rents.” This concept has really helped for NoMad to grow in recent times with the likes of Stumptown Coffee Roasters and the cool clothing store Opening Ceremony opening up with the Ace. Zobler also went on to explain, “We see the Broadway corridor as becoming the main shopping street and living room for all of the people that live in the neighborhood.” Which is something we have been witnessing ourselves.
Andrew Zobler also explained that they are in talks with Russ and Daughters, the century-old East Village institution, for a space next door to the NoMad Hotel! Which would be an amazing addition to the neighborhood, further solidifying NoMad as a neighborhood embraced by home-grown New York retailers.
To see the growth in the NoMad neighborhood has been amazing, and we are so excited that publications like the WSJ are catching on!
