More Info on the Lego Flagship Opening in NoMad
Tuesday April 22, 2014
For a while now, we’ve been waiting for toy manufacturer Lego to open its New York City flagship store in NoMad. The store, located at 200 Fifth Avenue on the northwest corner of 23rd Street, has been encased in a huge green construction barrier as work is completed. Now, Lego announced last week that the store will have a soft-open in mid-July followed by an official weekend-long grand opening celebration in August.
Fittingly, the future store will be located in what was for many years the Toy building. Its location is next to powerhouses Marimekko and Eataly on the increasingly busy Broadway corridor between Herald and Madison Squares.
Lego currently has a store in Rockefeller Center, but with the recent marketing push following the Lego movie, the company is a strong part of the cultural zeitgeist of a new generation of kids.
Details are still scarce, but the NoMad location will feature a 3,535 square-foot store and a 481 square-foot reading and playscape for kids. Lego has signed a 10-year lease for the space, so you can expect the fun to continue for many years to come.
Welcome to the neighborhood, Lego!View all Headlines
