Crain’s Business New York recently featured an article discussing Danny Meyer’s venture into the healthcare consulting industry.

While Meyer is best known as the restaurateur behind some of the city’s iconic restaurants (Shake Shack, Jazz Standard, Maialino), he provides hospitality consulting services and training workshops through his firm Hospitality Quotient.

Hospitality Quotient (HQ) aims to provide businesses with the customer service tools and training they need to attract and retain better employees, improve customer loyalty, and help generate continuous top line growth. Some of HQ’s corporate clients include Delta Air Lines, YMCA of Greater New York and American Express.

In response to The Affordable Care Act, Meyer and HQ targeted their services to healthcare providers, which has resulted in the company acquiring clients like AdvantageCare, EmblemHealth and the North Shore-LIJ Health System. HQ now generates 70% of its revenue from healthcare clients, and while the company did not disclosed their annual revenue, managing partner Susan Salgado reports that revenues have doubled each year since the HQ’s founding in 2010.
