ART21 Recaps Mad. Sq. 200 and The TASK Party
Wednesday October 1, 2014
Peabody Award-winning series ART21 “Art in the Twenty-First Century” recently recapped Oliver Herring’s TASK party for the Mad. Sq. 200 celebration in an exclusive short. (Mad. Sq. 200 was an all day events sponsored by the Conservancy to celebrate the bicentennial of the naming of Madison Square Park.)
Herring’s TASK party asked participants to write down a task and place it in a box, in exchange for taking their own task that they will then be asked to complete, using shared materials. The concept encourages party-goers to take creative risks and step out of their comfort zone to try something new.
“These tasks can be interpreted however you want,” explains Herring. “The tools are your imagination and your imagination is limitless.”
